Doug and Gabi offer insight into growing and malting barley in New Zealand, they explain how to use many of their most popular malt varieties, and they discuss the art of brewing the perfect “red beer”.
They were also generous enough to share the recipe for their “Red IPA”, a hoppy red ale that uses many of their signature malts.

Great show this one John. So many new malts that I could never remember all this but have mailed myself that first red ale recipe to try. They don’t mention a yeast but since I enjoy using dry (re-hydrated) yeasts I am thinking SO4 might be just right. Did you chat about this? I brew 22 L so hopefully Beersmith will make it easy to change the quantities – may JUST manage the grain bill in my 20 L Braumeister.
